Teaching a Student How to Think

In this short video, a teacher demonstrates how to teach students proper thinking skills. He actually teaches a student how to think for himself and analyze information. In an interactive dialog, he interrogates the student step by step to analyze his thinking about a false rumor being spread.  He is demonstrating the Socratic Method, which seems to be largely forgotten in the educational system these days.

Getting to the Essence of Things

This teacher guides the student to do his own research, rather than following the story many of the student's peers are circulating. The teacher exposes the student's group-think and gets him to see reality as it is. He guides the student to investigate the honest, integrated facts instead of accepting the rumor on face value.  False narratives are revealed by careful analysis, getting to the core of the matter.

Taught to Be a Self-Leader

This teacher doesn't teach in an authoritarian way, rather gently guides the student to see through the distortions spread around in his peer group. In this way he is teaching the student to be a self-leader, accumulating and analyzing all the facts.

This teacher should be awarded as Teacher of the Year and should instruct other teachers the art of teaching students critical thinking and thoughtful analysis.  All teachers should be this good.
